Completed B.Sc. (Agriculture) from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (BCKVV), West Bengal, in 1994. I earned M.Sc. in 1998 from the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), New Delhi with OGPA 4.0/4.0. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Wolverhampton, UK in 2009. During M.Sc. degree, was awarded with the ICAR-Junior Research Fellowship, and during Ph.D., the prestigious European Union Fellowship. He started my professional career in 2001 as a Scientist at ICAR-VPKAS, Almora and worked there on soil carbon sequestration, conservation tillage, nutrient management and organic farming. In 2011, He joined the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi and since then working on soil carbon stabilization and sequestration, nitrogen dynamics, soil health and crop productivity as affected by various conservation tillage, conservation agriculture, long-term fertilization, and organic farming practices and different land uses under diverse cropping systems and land configurations. He earned my postdoc from the University of Queensland, after obtaining the prestigious INSA Fellowship.

He is a fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS, India) in 2014, received the Team Award 2008-09 for outstanding contribution on soil carbon sequestration under Natural Resource Management from the ICAR, as the Team Leader, and got the B.C. Dev Memorial Award from the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA, India). He was elected as a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in 2016 and also received the Fellowship Award from the West Bengal Academy of Science & Technology, W.B. He also was awarded with the B. Laxminarayan Award by the IARI in 2011, received one of the best young researchers working on soil conservation in Europe by the ESSC in 2007, travel grants from the British Society of Soil Science, UK, Best Asian Young Scientist Award by WASWAC in 2009, best Indian young scientist award by the ISSS in 2010 and the prestigious 12th International Commemoration Award of the ISSS in 2019. He was a board member of the International Soil Tillage Research Organization (ISTRO) during 2015-2018 and received a Scholarship Award from ISTRO in 2009. He served as an Editorial Board Member of ‘Geoderma’ during 2014-2020, and am currently an Editorial Board Member of ‘Agriculture, Ecosystems & Environment’ since 2014 to date, and Soil and Tillage Research (since 2021 to date). Presently, the Expert Member of the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils, FAO.

As a faculty of Soil Science & Ag. Chemistry at IARI, He has guided 4 M.Sc. students as Chairman of Advisory committee and now guiding 4 Ph.D. students. He has published 147 research papers in international/national journals of high repute, 4 books, 1 book chapters and many conference and popular articles. He has h index of 45, i10 index 111 and more than 7100 citations in Google Scholar.

Presently, He is the Assistant Secretary of the ISSS and an active member of the ISSS, Delhi Chapter (since, 2011). He has served the society with my various capacities and actively participated for organizing different events under the Delhi Chapter of ISSS. He was also Editor of the JISSS for 6 years (2014-2019) and now again serving the Society as an Editor since 2023.
