Dr. Amol P Bhondekar is currently serving as Principal Scientist at CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organisation, Chandigarh. He has been associated with projects of strategic importance such as development of instrumentation system for Light Combat Aircraft, immunochemical systems for explosive detection, organoleptic systems etc. He has been actively involved in the Agro-Instrumentation programmes of CSIR and specializes in development of quality analysis instruments for agro produce. His notable contributions in the area of Agro Instrumentation has been in the development of NIR based system for food grain quality analysis, novel electrochemical technique for iodine value analysis of edible oils, impedance spectroscopy based instruments for moisture analysis, flavour and fragrance analysis systems, process monitoring systems for traditional attar making processes. He is currently coordinating CSIR Mission on Food Safety. He has number of publications with reputed international publishers including Nature and Science. He currently leads a group of multidisciplinary young and dynamic researchers working on Sensor and Data fusion applications for agriculture.
